Our Operation Theatres (OTs) are busy year-round, performing numerous complex surgeries across all specialties, including advanced minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and robotic procedures. As the procurement head, my primary goal is to acquire the latest and most advanced technologies for our hospital, with a strong emphasis on quality. We perform approximately 2,500 surgeries each month, making it quite challenging for our team to optimally utilize our equipment and surgical sets without disrupting the OT schedule. ...With advancements in surgical instruments, we’ve observed a growing trend where the sterilization of these instruments increasingly requires low- temperature sterilization methods.

We have been using STERRAD™ for over 16 years and recently acquired their latest STERRAD™ 100NX All Clear technology. STERRAD™ has been a game-changer for our hospital and Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), which manages our low-temperature sterilization needs. Its short sterilization cycle time has significantly reduced turnaround times, streamlining the workflow in our CSSD and ensuring that instruments are quickly sterilized and ready for use. This has led to cost savings by minimizing the need for duplicate instruments and surgical sets, while also drastically reducing wear and tear on the equipment.

Our CSSD has long relied on STERRAD™, which has been instrumental in infection prevention, reducing redundant inventory, minimizing instrument damage, indirectly saving costs, and ensuring the uninterrupted operation of our ORs. STERRAD™ has played a pivotal role in enhancing the overall efficiency of both our CSSD and OTs.
