"Terminal sterilization plays a critical role in minimizing postoperative infections. A comprehensive infection control practise is important starting from patient admission and continuing through to surgery, including the use of well-sterilized instruments and close coordination between the OT team and CSSD. It is important to adhere to protocols and educate all hospital staff on infection control to maintain high standards of patient safety. Further there is a shift away from carcinogenic sterilization methods like ethylene oxide, to safer and more effective alternatives."
